Membership Cards update

With the ongoing COVID-19 emergency, the decision has been taken to mail all the membership cards out to everyone. In recent years we’ve delivered them all ourselves, but this year, for the safety of the deliverers, we’re just going to stick stamps to on the whole lot and post them out.

I’ve just posted Andrews House’s membership cards so, if you live in Andrews House you should be getting them on Monday or Tuesday. We’ll be doing the rest of the cards over the weekend, and into early next week, so you should be getting yours soon.

I have no idea if there is any way that you can redeem any discounts from anywhere. However, when the lockdown is over, please go out and fill you boots at all the local conveyances, discounts or no. I expect that they’ll sorely need our money to stay afloat, so you can go out spending, knowing that you’re also doing your bit to protect the future viability of local businesses.

Staying safe and sane during the Coronavirus

How much have you moved today?

How Much Have You Moved Today Booklet

This booklet, produced by Haringey Council contains 10 strength building exercises, which can be done in small spaces at home, so ideal for anyone who’s struggling to get enough activity into their days at the moment.

Help Needed?

The good people of the Barbican Estate have been very, very busy setting up a Mutual Assistance support network. Neighbours in each block have shared contact numbers and leafleted to reach out to those self-isolating and there is also a central volunteer phone you can call for help if you can’t reach your neighbours:

Barbican Estate Office Bulletin

The Barbican Estate Office send out a weekly email bulletin and recently have been sending out more frequent messages with updates related to the Coronavirus outbreak. If you’re not already signed up to receive this emails you can do so here.

Update from the BA in the time of coronavirus (27 March 2020)

The Barbican Association continues to function (as does the Residents’ Consultation Committee) during this period of lock down.

We have postponed our AGM (due on 23 April) until a to-be-determined future date. In the meantime the existing committee and elected members/officers remain in post until the AGM.

We will continue to monitor issues as they arise, though we expect the number of regular issues, such as planning and licensing, to drop off.

New membership cards are being sent out in the post very soon.

Well done to the support groups that have grown up in each house and the coordinated group across the estate. If you need informal support you should be able to access is via one of these groups.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you want to raise any issues.

Best wishes and stay safe
