In 2015 the City conducted a wide ranging review and consultation exercise on an area strategy for the Barbican and Golden Lane area
This was driven partly by the City’s aspirations for Cultural hub (see here), partly by projections of more visitors to the area because of population growth and the advent of Crossrail, and partly as part of the City’s programme of upgrading the streetscene in various parts of the City.
The Barbican Association made a full response to the consultation [here]. Individual projects are expected from the City that fall within the overall strategy over the next few years. The first are expected in the autumn of 2016. The BA will engage fully with these consultations and will post its responses on this site.
In the meantime the feasibility report for a Centre for Music have been published. If this proposal proceeds to a full business plan the BA has sought, and been given, assurances from the City that residents will be consulted early during the business case proposal about the design proposals.
